Questions

In full.

What the analysis does, what it cannot do, why the Aliquot range is built the way it is, and what happens to your photographs.

The analysis

What actually happens when I run the analysis?

You take six guided photographs, of your forehead, left cheek, right cheek, nose and T-zone, chin and jawline, and neck and décolletage. Then you answer twenty questions about your skin, your routine, your environment and your health.

The photographs and the answers are read together. Each area is scored separately for priority, from zero to five, and the findings roll up into concern scores that shape your skin plan.

What is reading my photos?

A vision model that learned to read skin from millions of example images. When your six photos arrive, they are read fresh, on their own merits, and measured against everything the model has learned.

They are never compared against another person’s photos. There is no photo database, no face recognition, and no identity matching of any kind.

Can it tell me if a mole is dangerous?

No, and this matters. The analysis describes visible skin condition only. It does not diagnose, and it does not check moles, spots or lesions.

It is not a skin check. If you have a mole or a lesion that concerns you, see a GP or a dermatologist.

How accurate is it?

Accuracy depends heavily on photo quality. A sharp, well-lit photo reads far better than a dark or blurry one, which is why the app checks the light and the focus before it takes each shot.

Small or early concerns that are not yet visible in a photograph cannot be seen by a camera. If you can feel something you cannot see, say so in the intake.

I've already asked ChatGPT about my skin. What's different?

A chatbot only knows what you type. Vernier looks at six photos of your actual skin, reads them with your answers, and checks every pick against safety rules written by clinicians.

It chooses from a fixed range with the strength on every label, and it tells you what it left out.

My skin changed after having a baby, or with perimenopause. Does this account for that?

Yes. The questions ask about your hormonal stage, and your answers shape what’s chosen. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, some actives are left out automatically.

As your skin keeps changing, rescan and your plan changes too.

Does a human ever look at it?

Advanced image analysis proposes. A practitioner decides. If your answers flag anything needing human judgement, such as pregnancy or a recent reaction, your report is held for review before anything is recommended or supplied.

Every recommendation is a starting point a practitioner can make more cautious, never less.

The Aliquot range

What makes Aliquot different from ordinary skincare?

Three things. Every active is named on the label at the concentration used, so you know what you are applying and how much. The range is structured as Prepare, Treat, Seal and Protect, plus an ingestible arm, rather than as a shelf of products competing for the same job.

And nothing is selected without an assessment first. The range is designed to be matched to a skin state, not sold to a skin type.

Why does the concentration matter so much?

Because the right ingredient at the wrong strength is a common and expensive mistake. Too little does nothing. Too much, too soon, damages the barrier you were trying to support.

Your report states the strength selected and explains why, then states the pace, which is often more important than the strength itself.

What is the physiological approach you talk about?

There are two routes to visible change. The inflammatory route strips the surface, raises water loss, and reads the flush as a result. Stinging, redness and a short-lived brightness are not matrix support.

The physiological route prepares without stripping, supplies substrate, cofactor and signal, holds water in the matrix, and seals the lipid ratio at three parts ceramide to one cholesterol to one free fatty acid. The barrier stays standing. Change, if it comes, is slow.

What is the extra-cellular matrix?

The scaffolding under the epidermis. Collagen gives it tensile strength, elastin gives it recoil, hyaluronic acid holds its water, and a lipid seal at the surface stops that water leaving. Fibroblasts build and remodel it.

A routine built on a reading supplies the materials, protects what is already there, and holds the barrier conditions the matrix needs. Topical first, ingestible alongside.

How long until I see something?

Honestly: epidermal turnover runs about twenty-eight to forty days, so the earliest change you notice is usually surface comfort rather than anything dramatic.

Collagen remodelling is measured in months, not weeks. Three to six is realistic. Consistency matters more than intensity, every time.

Do I have to take the ingestibles?

No. They’re only suggested when your answers point to them, and you can say no. Your topical routine still works on its own.

I already take a collagen powder. Should I switch?

Tell us in the questions. Your report takes it into account, so you’re not doubling up.

Can I take them with my medication, or while pregnant or breastfeeding?

The questions ask about both. If there’s any doubt, your plan leaves the ingestible out and tells you to check with your GP or pharmacist.

Where is it made?

Aliquot formulations are compounded in Australia. They’re pharmacist-formulated, with specific, clearly defined active concentrations. Vernier does not manufacture or relabel skincare. We read your skin and choose your routine. Aliquot compounds and supplies it.

Safety and suitability

I am pregnant or breastfeeding. Can I use this?

You can run the analysis. Retinoids and certain other actives are excluded automatically, and the plan switches to alternatives.

Your report is also held for a practitioner to review before anything is recommended. If you become pregnant while following a plan, stop and contact us.

I have very reactive skin. Is this going to make it worse?

Reactive skin starts at a reduced frequency and builds, with clear instructions on when to step back. Actives that should not be combined are never scheduled together.

If your photographs show active barrier signs, exfoliating actives are held back entirely until the barrier is stable. In our sample reading, two references were excluded for exactly that reason.

I had a peel or laser recently.

Tell us in the intake. Skin treated in clinic routes to a recovery pathway until it has settled, with timing guidance before actives resume.

As a general rule, pause five to seven days either side of waxing, peels, laser or microneedling.

Do I need to patch test?

Yes. Apply a pea-sized amount to a two centimetre patch behind the ear or on the inner forearm. Leave it twenty-four hours without washing, then repeat the next day. Check at twenty-four and forty-eight hours for redness, itching, bumps or burning.

If the patch stays comfortable after forty-eight hours, begin on the face at the pace your skin plan sets.

What is normal, and what is not?

Expected early on: mild tingling for a few minutes, slight dryness or light flaking in the first two to four weeks, and a short adjustment period.

Not expected: stinging that lasts beyond application, tightness that does not settle overnight, raw or weeping skin, spreading redness, or new sensitivity to products you previously tolerated.

Stop and seek medical care for swelling of the lips, eyelids or face, any difficulty breathing, blistering, or a rash spreading beyond where you applied the product.

Do I still need sunscreen?

Every morning, without exception. Actives increase sun sensitivity, and UV is the largest external driver of matrix breakdown. Protecting what is already built is not optional.

Ordering and delivery

How do I order?

Get your reading, read it, then confirm the skin plan it recommends. You order what was chosen for you, not a basket you assembled yourself.

You can keep a direct equivalent you already own, sunscreen being the common one, and the plan still works.

How much does it cost?

Your price shows with your routine once your reading is done. You see the full cost before you buy anything.

This is a design mockup, so pricing is not live here yet.

I have an influencer code.

Enter it at checkout, or open the site through the link you were given and it applies automatically. You will see it confirmed at the top of every page.

What if I'm not sure I'm using it right?

Your skin plan spells it out: the order, how often, what’s normal and when to stop.

If something feels off, step back to the last stage that felt comfortable, then recheck at week 4.

Is this a subscription?

No lock-in. Order what your reading calls for. When you rescan, your plan updates, and you reorder only what’s still needed.

What if it's not right for me?

Rescan. A four-week recheck is built in so your plan can be adjusted before anything stronger is added.

Trust

I found Vernier through a creator. Are they paid?

Some creators who share Vernier use a referral code and earn a commission when you order.

Your reading and your plan are exactly the same whoever sent you. The code only changes who gets thanked.

Your photos and privacy

Who can see my photographs?

Your photos are stored privately and used solely to prepare your skin assessment. They are never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared outside your care team.

Are my photos used to train anything?

No. Your photographs are read to prepare your assessment. They are not used for advertising or marketing, and they are not published anywhere.

Can I have my data deleted?

Yes. You can request an export or an erasure of your records at any time.

Will you use my before and after photos in marketing?

No, and we could not even if we wanted to. Clinical photography is held for your record only. Comparison images must not be used in advertising, marketing, social media or any public-facing material.

It is a real constraint on how we can talk about results, and we would rather explain the reasoning than show you someone else’s face.

Still deciding

The analysis takes about ten minutes, and the reading explains itself. Nothing is ordered until you have read it.
